Camelot for Children, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a social gathering place to seriously, chronically, terminally ill and disabled children. All activities are free of charge and include the whole family. Camelot House is a haven from what can sometimes be a very lonely world for these special children. At Camelot the children and families can gather with others who have similar needs in common with their own. For parents, Camelot provides a common ground where problems and concerns can be discussed with others experiencing similar situations. When the children are at Camelot House it is our hope that they can forget, for just a little while, that they are sick or different from others. To date Camelot for Children has provided a loving environment to over 500 families.

To support Camelot for Children, Starters Restaurants are donating up to 10% of all dining purchases from Starters’ restaurants in Bethlehem between April 1st and April 30th.

Autism Speaks: Team Logan Goes Walking

Dine to Donate: March 1 - April 30, 2012

Celebrity Bartending Event: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Starters Clubhouse Grille

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. They include autistic disorder, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and Asperger Syndrome. ASD can be associated with intellectual disability, difficulties in motor coordination and attention and physical health issues such as sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances. Some persons with ASD excel in visual skills, music, math and art.

Autism appears to have its roots in very early brain development. However, the most obvious signs of autism and symptoms of autism tend to emerge between 2 and 3 years of age. Autism Speaks continues to fund research on effective methods for earlier diagnosis, as early intervention with proven behavioral therapies can improve outcomes. Increasing autism awareness is a key aspect of this work and one in which our families and volunteers play an invaluable role.

Strength When You Need It Most:

St. Luke’s Hospice provides patients and their families with compassionate, end-of-life care. With hospice, the miracle isn’t in the cure... it’s in the caring and the value of life.

What is Hospice?
Hospice and palliative care involve a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the patient’s and family’s needs and wishes. The goal of hospice lies in the belief that each person has the right to live comfortably, as pain-free as possible and with dignity.

2nd Annual “Let Me Go” Charity Bike Ride
In 2006, St. Luke's Hospice cared for Tara Mullin-Wright after she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The care Tara received inspired her son, J.W. Frye, to complete a solo cross-continental bike ride stretching from Key West, Florida, to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The purpose of this 8,000 mile bike ride was to increase awareness and educate communities about the benefits of hospice care. Keep Tara in your heart as you pedal to support St. Luke's Hospice. Remember the climb she conquered every day, and join us as we push ourselves to be the best we can be! St. Luke’s Hospice has been providing hospice care to our community for 25 years.
